Bent,
Many thanks. A great tool, simple to build and it works great. What more can you ask for?

I'm looking forward to knowing how to wind those springs. Many thanks.

Re: set screws and bell cranks?
Hey Bent,
Thanks for the info and especially the pics. I'm curious about the springs used to hold the rods to the bell cranks. Do you have to make them or are they an off the shelf thing from a spring vendor? I've seen them before on other steel guitars.

set screws and bell cranks?
Hi All, I'm beginning on a design to build my own pedal steel guitar. I've worked on a bunch of different ones and am now foolish enough to think I can build one too. One of the things that bothers me is bell cranks. Some types seem prone to loosening or breaking over time. Some are much easier to w...

Re: Another Changer Idea
I've worked on several brands of pedal steel guitars and am now thinking of building my own and looking for ideas. This changer is one I'm not familiar with and wondered if you have any photos of it? Am I missing something or are you limited to one raise and one lower with this changer?

Re: lubrication for changers
Hi Richard, Thanks for the feedback. It gives me more confidence to try the teflon silicone. I'm not sure how long it will last before needing replenishing. Using a light machine oil was recommended to me by a fellow who said they had similar conditions (aluminum on steel) in part of a landing gear ...

lubrication for changers
I've worked on various pedal steel guitars over the last 7 or 8 years, and one thing continues to bug me about the changers (besides the fact that you have to remove everything to get to them). I'm talking about commercially made units that you see on many guitars. They are made with steel axles and...

Re: set screws and flats on shafts
Thanks for the tip about stainless set screws. I'll try some. Set screws are a PITA but a lot of the older guitars I work on use them extensively.

set screws and flats on shafts
After working on an old pedal steel guitar for somebody, I ended up with some questions about set screws and required size of flats on round shafts. One of the problems with this particular old guitar was that whoever did the machine work on it originally didn't do much more that make a small flat o...

source for 14 hole bell cranks?
Does anyone on the forum make or have a source for 14 hole Emmons Lagrande type bell cranks? I think it would be okay if it had fewer holes, maybe 2 sets of 4 staggered per side. The biggest requirements are that they fit a 5/16" square shaft and are only .062" thick where the pull rod passes throug...
