stringmaster nut screws

Hi Does anyone know a source for screws suitable for a stringmaster nut? I have measured one and they appear to be a #2 x 3/4" phillips dome head. I can't seem to find anything in that specification anywhere - the smallest wood screws most places sell are a #4 Any help would be very much appreciated...

Re: Aluminum angle nut and bridge

Hi Jesse I think your design looks fine. When it comes to rod or angle, either will work. The only comment I would make is that as the nut needs to be grooved to take the strings, if you use rod then you would really need a lathe to be able to make those grooves, whereas with angle you can easily do...

Re: General enquiries.

Hi Jason There is no hard and fast rule concerning scale length, but probably the most common are 22 1/2" (short scale) and 24 1/2" (long scale). The advantage of the shorter scale length is that it is easier for bar slants, particularly at the bottom end of the neck, whilst the longer scale length ...

Re: ideal steel amplifier

Hi Richard I've had no input on the development of the amp other than to pass on all the comments people have offered on this forum. I'll certainly pass on your suggestion to the guys when I see them, but it should be born in mind that there is a considerable cost involved for a British builder to e...

Re: ideal steel amplifier

I believe an amp has been built - I don't know the details yet but I think I may get to see it in a couple of weeks - I'm exhibiting at a guitar show in the north of England and the guys who make the speakers will also be there. Difficulty is that I may be on my own in which case I will not be able ...

ideal steel / lap steel amplifier

Hi I have been talking with a company who want to develop an amp specifically for steel and who asked me what my 'wishlist' would be for a steel guitar amplifier. As an inexperienced steel player I thought it best to throw the question open to those with more experience and who perhaps have more spe...

Re: Lap steel bridge - compensated or not?

Thanks Russ, though to be honest I'm not sure I can tell the difference between the gibson or the supro in terms of intonation - maybe down to my playing ability (I'm still pretty much a beginner at this). Did you mean to imply that compensation is not necessary or the inverse? Does anyone else have...

Lap steel bridge - compensated or not?

I have seen a lot of debate on the web over whether a bridge on a lap steel needs to be compensated or not. There are those that say that since you are not fretting the strings that this is not necessary. Others argue that a compensated bridge is needed to compensate for the stiffness of the strings...

Re: supro supreme - help needed

Hi Bent thanks for the reply and apologies for the very late response. Wasn't really sure what I was measuring at first as there is only one wire coming from the pickup, but I'm guessing the other probe of my multimeter needs to go to ground? Anyway I tried measuring from the one lead from the picku...
