I did mean the roller the string goes in(sorry).I had thought about using hand drill and small triangle file.Also thought about using brass ends off bass strings,just wouldn't be guaged to strings.

I'm a big Bocephus fan too.Go to youtube and type in Hank Williams Jr lap steel,an there is a video of him playing your Cheating Heart on lap steel.For years Eddie "cowboy" Long was his steel player,do a search on him and that's what his sound was for years.

multi effects pedal
I wanted to know if anyone has used just a multi effects unit w/built in volume pedal straight to board and got good pedal steel sounds.If so,what kind of effects unit and set ups. I want to record direct without amp.
