Re: First Attempt
Sorry, forgot to mention what a great job you did. You will indeed be hooked now I reckon and probably planning the next one already.

Re: First Attempt
I agree with Russ here. I have used bone, aluminium and brass in both nuts and bridges. Apart from sustain, Brass seems to lift the tone up completely. I will only use brass (lightly lacquered) for nuts and bridges on my lap steels now.

Re: Should Extra Necks Be Higher?
Thanks for your posts guys. Yeah I reckon its a personal thing but was just wondering if it was a big deal for others. Personally I like front neck to be 5/8 taller than back neck. I normally have string height at about 1/2 to 5/8 inches. As mentioned previously, I know of many builders (commercial ...

Should Extra Necks Be Higher?
Hi all. Just need your opinions regarding whether you think its important to have any other necks on a twin neck or triple etc higher than the neck on the players side. The reason I ask this is because I myself like extra necks on non pedal consoles to be a little higher. Although, playing consoles ...

Re: Keyheads
See how good your work is Bent? You've got an ex cop here planning to paddle overseas and nick the blue pedal steel  have to get heaps of projects out of the way (and get some money back) before I get a pedal steel mate. I'd love to build one but I cant fabricate the metal parts so it would end...

Re: Keyheads
Thanks Burt and Bent. That'd be easier than doing a paper template off the bottom of the keyhead I reckon. Even with a template, I dont trust the accuracy. This is a better sounding method to me. Hey Bent ! I cant get over the finish on your blue Pedal steel. I want the address of where it is so tha...

Keyheads
Hi all. Just fishing for thoughts and comments here regarding mounting of keyheads. I am working on a console 8 string and have a stepped aluminium keyhead to use. This will be screwed onto body in front of neck piece of wood like nearly all I have seen. However a friend made the comment this mornin...
