Re: Another Wood Supplier

I'll give another plug for Notable Woods. Bruce is very environmentally conscious and sustainably oriented. He even threw in some extra wood that did he not have use for when I placed an order from him.

Re: 008 in the works

That is going to be one beautiful guitar Bent! :o I changed the strings on my old Shobud the other day. Threw it up on the bench and really cleaned out the nooks and crannies and tri- flowed up the mechanisms. Setting up on the bench I really appreciated what a beautiful piece of wood and neat guita...

Re: Home made feel stops

What is the idea behind the feel stop Pat? Is that so you can feel the tension build as you get closer to the end of the pedal travel?

Re: Best speaker for Steel in a Fender Twin?

Well after looking around for a while, I am having a hard time finding the JBL's.
And after doing some more research I am going to try the Jensen Neo 100's.

Re: Best speaker for Steel in a Fender Twin?

Thanks Pat, I think I will go with a JBL and will give a review when I play it. That is a beauty of a guitar you built there. I am also routing the tuner holders into (or out of) the plank of mahogany I'm building a non-pedal C6 from. I just like the simplicity of it being part of the plank of wood....

Best speaker for Steel in a Fender Twin?

I am needing to replace a 12" speaker in my 130watt Fender Twin. Does anybody have suggestions, experiences or opinions? I've read good reviews on some of the new speakers with neodymium magnets and the lighter weight would definitely make my amp more portable.

Re: Tone and materials.

Whoa, Thanks Alan and Bent so much! I have more confidence to go forward with tried and true knowledge. I'm trying to put together an 8 string from scrap materials I happen to have around which includes extruded 6061-T6 that I have mounted some mandolin tuners to and some Brass rod for the nut. I wi...

Re: String Thru vs. Top Loading?

Seems to me the more solid string through design would have more sustain.

Tone and materials.

Some many questions before I even drill a hole. I see a lot of brass nuts. It seems harder material would dampen the strings least. But brass is nice and heavy.... What are opinions on different alloys? 1. Is there a noticable tone difference between 6061 or 7075 aluminum? 2. Anybody know tone chara...
