Blanton-style bellcranks

Hey y'all! I know Ross Schaeffer is using an iteration of Blanton style bell cranks on the new Sierras he builds, but otherwise most builders seem to opt for designs that offer a more limited range of adjustment. Is there a "con" to the Blanton threaded rod adjustment that outweighs the "pro" of bei...

Re: Splits

Ah, “string cam” is a much more accurate name. :D
Thanks Jason!!

Splits

Howdy ya'll! Haven't thought much about my planned build for a few months, but I started to mock it up as a 3d model and I have a question about tunable splits: Do they contact what I've been calling the "control finger" (the part that the strings are attached to and ride on) or the scissor? In thes...

Leg adjustment mechanism

Hey y'all! Can anyone describe to me how adjustable legs are designed? https://s9.postimg.org/c6nyg540f/imgl1505.jpg Like, obviously it's some sort of friction lock, but what exactly is under the knurled bit? Is it a collet of some sort? Are the threads in the knurled bit tapered to apply pressure a...

Yet even more changer questions!

Hey y'all, It seems I'm not alone in pondering the changer design and execution the most as I'm mulling over my planned build. I hijacked a thread with some initial questions, but reckoned I should be polite and start my own. :D First, what is the general feeling about ball bearings to mount the con...

Re: Need changer specs

AH HA! Thanks Ron, that's perfect. So in a sense it's "Carter style" (the wraparound) and "Sho-Bud style" (the riveted). I don't get the impression from anything stated in that thread that one method is particularly advantageous over the other in terms of function. I think I'm going to mock up the c...

Re: Need changer specs

Beautiful work indeed Ron! I found this illustration, which I'm sure y'all are familiar with, that answers my question about the raise: https://s17.postimg.org/5g4gobbq7/Screen_Shot_2017-11-21_at_9.55.35_PM.png So by the looks of your changer, Ron, you use what's being called a "wraparound" finger d...

Re: Need changer specs

Thanks Ron!!! I was planning on a "comb" type, but I'm not set on it. I'm wanting to build a 12 string if that reccomends one over the other... My confusing question about the scissor is probably much easier with a picture, and it becomes "what does the other side look like?" https://s2.postimg.org/...

Re: Need changer specs

Hi y'all! I'm brand new to this forum and have changer questions! I reckoned I'd just tag on here rather than start a new thread.... I've looked through all 20 pages here in the Pedal Steel section and have already gotten a huge amount of info. So thank you!! :D Regarding changer design, it looks li...
