I finished this first build and very pleased with the result. It has wonderful sound which thrills the dikens out of me. Now I need to learn to play it.

Lap Steel Intonation

I see that many Laps are built with a straight line bridge on them. The question of intonation comes up. Is it not that critical on a Lap? I have been thinking about what I will do on my next build project and maybe making my own bridge.

Scale Length Ease of Playing

I haven't seen anything on what scale length is easiest to play. Maybe there's no difference??? I built my first Lap Steel to a 24.5 scale and now thinking of another go at it. This time I'm thinking should I go with a 22" or stay with the middle of the road scale size. Any thoughts???

I put the cart befor the horse and paid a big setback. I had glued the fret board to my Lapp build and then attemper to cut fret markers,,,, freehand. Needless to say I had a bad experience and had to cut off the board and a pad I had glued for the bridge. Lots of cleanup to get my Lap body back to ...

Lap Steel Build Scale Layout

When marking out the scale for fret placement, does one start up against the nut or from the middle of the nut. I'm going to mark out a 24.5 scale on my fret board but wasn't sure of the placement. Thanks
