Re: Double lowers on a pull-release

Wow, good question. On my several pull-release guitars I’ve made double raises and one lower (typical E string stuff). It’s tricky. The two raises need to be loosely coupled. It’s so tricky that the guitar I’m building now is going to have scissors fingers on just the Es.

F lever on pull-release

Hi all. I've worked on several pull-release guitars, all old ShoBud or part ShoBud. I can now set up on E lever with a C pedal on a pull-release. It's tricky but doable. But my question concerns the easier F lever. Have any of you ever considered using a cable to link it to the C pedal cross shaft, ...

Re: Replacing Fender "knife edge" pivots.

I'm sorry to not have any real answers. I was just looking at my own Fender/ShoBud Artist model, double-neck, and noticing that most or all of my pivots are quite worn, in the way old pot metal gets worn. There is indeed a lot of pot metal on these otherwise nice guitars. If I were to replace them I...

Re: New guy, new steel.

I bet it'll be OK. The ebony is under compression. But I forgot, what are the actual rollers made from? I think those should be metal. I bet if you think for a while you could find something already made, used for another purpose. --- I'm also a much more experienced woodworker than metal worker, an...

Re: What copedent should I go with?

I'm likely to get laughed out of court for this madness but here's my extremely non-standard E9. If you've never played E9 before, don't necessarily need to play modern licks and don't plan to play anyone else's steel, well, it's possible. Top down: Eb-G#-F#-E-B-G#-F#-E-B-D. The Eb and D are "out of...

Re: I need a "catch and release" pedal mechanism idea

Right you are! I have several of those and hadn't thought to use explore that direction. That's exactly the kind of idea I was hoping for. You're right, I also don't immediately see how that latch, operating in that dimension, will be incorporated, but once I look at how it actually works inside som...

I need a "catch and release" pedal mechanism idea

On my C6 neck 90% of the time I tune my low C to a C# and my low A to a Bb. (I play mostly jazz and like b5s in the lower strings.) Occasionally I'll want the C back. Right now I have a simple cabinet latch, connected to a rod and spring, mounted under the neck of my very old ShoBud double 9 pull-re...
