Re: 10 string lap steel project
"Very nice, gonna post a sound bite some time?" Can you give me a quick lesson or a link on how to post an audio track? If not, I'll try to find some time to do some research. I'm a bit limited on time since I have to go into the real studio next weekend for a new western swing project and I need to...

Re: 10 string lap steel project
Almost done with this. I forgot to ground the bridge so I have to open it up. I've mounted the pickup from under the neck and it needs some adjustment and the only way to do that is to pull the neck. Kind of dumb design but the pickup is in direct contact with the neck and bridge that way and it all...

Here's the under side with a bit of shellac to see how the figure will turn out.

10 string lap steel project
I wanted a travel guitar as close as possible to my normal guitars so I started building one. I bought the keyhead as a rough cast. The maple is figured hard rock. I mde the bridge from a piece of aluminum but the bridge itself will have a 1/8 rod added once everything is bolted together and I have ...

Re: My prototype...rebuilt once again!
Just to throw in some ideas or concerns about pull release for future projects. Cross rods that are mounted away from the underside of the body are a good idea, and the farther the better. Then use a puller like an emmons push-pull puller. That way you can either get a lower or a raise from the same...

Looking for a keyhead- got one thanks
I'd like to find a one piece non roller aluminum keyhead for 9 or 10 strings. A rough cast is fine too. I'm making a non pedal to travel with and I want it to have the scale length and fret boards of my normal guitars.
I found one. 5/24/10 Thanks
Steve

Re: Nitrocellulose
800 grit seems a little risky as a finishing starter. I have made a few mistakes when using paper of that grit when rubbing out finishes. I would stay at a higher grit and do a bit more work in order to limit the possibility of going through the finish when you don't want to in easy places like edge...

Re: Pedal Steel Guitar ( Project #2 )
It looks really good. I'm kind of a sucker for not doing inlay. Side question for everyone or a thought. My triple neck is constructed so that the individual necks do not attach to each other. I thought that was strange at first but I can see a positive. From my experience a good amount of cabinet d...

Aen't Emmons push pulls 1/2?
I have cracks betwen the changer housing screws and the endplate on my early 60's sho bud. I assume those are there because the holes weren't drilled properly before adding the screws.

New pickup completed
I had pictures of the bobbin before I built it but I can't find those now. I wanted to try something different for my triple neck pedal steel. This is a single blade pole piece with an aluminum top, clear platic baseplate and two large alnico V bar magnets with the magnetism oriented out the end of ...
