Re: Inlays
Hi everyone, I decided that I'm going to use a plain strip of aluminum, and then add Gold Leaf like shown in this photo. The lap steels will be painted solid red on the body with a white neck. The Pedal Steels will have a transparent red over Tiger Maple, with transparent white over a Tiger Maple ne...

Re: Rollers for roller nut
Thanks again Stormy. My first project will be a simple 6 string lap steel. Then I'm going to tackle a single 10 pedal steel. I've built a few pedal steels before; but mostly from salvaged parts from other steels. I used the changers and pedals from the old MSA Sidekicks that had the body damaged. Bu...

Re: Guitar Body Material - Georg - Richard ??
Sierra did in fact make an all aluminum cabinet, as dose GFI. But remember the old original Rickenbacker Fry Pan, and the tone they had. Bobby Ingano in Hawaii plays one from the 1940's; give him a listen on YouTube; that should answer any questions. With today's milling machines, it may be easier t...

An idea of mine...
Here is an idea I had for combining my love of the Steel Guitar, and my nearly 50 years of Volunteering in the Fire/Rescue and Emergency Medical Services. I plan on building both a Lap Steel and a Pedal Steel. The lap steel will be painted bright red with a polished aluminum diamond plate fretboard....

Rollers for roller nut
Does anyone have a good source for brass rollers for roller nuts? I'll have plenty of time since I plan to build my Lap Steel first. I have everything in need for it already.

Re: Cabinet size for single 10 Pedal Steel
Thanks guys, my cast aluminum endplates are 7 1/2" wide, (inside dimensions). The keyhead I think will be two piece machined out of a solid billet. I'm going to machine a separate roller nut that attaches to the keyhead. That way I can easily remove the nut for maintenance without removing the keyhe...

Cabinet size for single 10 Pedal Steel
Hi everyone, I plan on building a single 10 with 3 pedals and 4 knees. I need to know the common dimensions for the cabinet so I don't cut up too much of my Tiger Maple.
Thanks
