Anyone got any tips? Do I need to use sanding sealer, or a primer? etc, etc, etc...

Thinking about building a D6 console / lap steel. Gathering parts....

What would you recommend for pickups?

P-90 Soapbar
Stratocaster
Humbucker

Stewmac (http://www.stewmac.com/) has lots of parts and also info on pickup wiring. I would suggest pickup straight to 1/4" jack, then use a volume pedal.

I think I would go new body. That way you could re-assemble it if you get to longing for it... or want to sell it...

I believe the one thing to think about is that it is basically an upside down jig saw, so there will be lots of vibration, and it may be hard to hold down what you are sawing. A band saw runs against the table, and helps to hold the material to the surface.
