Re: Blanton-style bellcranks

I just noticed that you're located in Austin. An Austin steeler named Michael Small (aka memphislim, on the Steel guitar Forum) has a new Sierra, he's also done lot's of setup and repair work on steels work on steels. If you're interested, you could reach out to him through the Steel Guitar Forum to...

Re: Blanton-style bellcranks

I and everyone who has messed with the new Sierra's consider adjustable bell cranks to be the bomb. FYI, the adjustability in Blanton's bell cranks were actually for tuning the pulls (no tuning avail. at the end of the rods) and not for timing. I've read that when tuned the timing worked out...not s...

Re: Sierra "Makin' Chips" video series.

Thanks LaVern, I'm running out of parts to make at this point...haven't figured out how we're going to do it yet, but we hope to have some sort of videos showing the assembly process....if the guys who are doing the finishing for me ever come through....trying two folks, both are 6 weeks late....may...

Re: Sierra "Makin' Chips" video series.

Unfortunately my mill only goes up to 6k rpm so most of what the math gives me won't fly on my machine with aluminum (95% of what I cut on it), so I wing it from there.

My Mcam spits out ridiculously low numbers for everything it seems....I too have my own library going.....kind of.

Re: Sierra "Makin' Chips" video series.

Hi Jerry, Most of the vids are sped up by some amount...not nec. consistent from vid to vid. I do use Carbide 2 flute as much as possible, but still have quite a few HSS cutters in the mix. I'm flying by the seat of my pants with most of my feeds and speeds the numbers kicked out by MCAM seem more s...

I'll second that....for the most part anyway.

Happy New Year all!
